I created this collection while still a student at FIT. It was inspired by early 20th century modern dance aesthetics as well as ideas of the period that persist into our present that saw modern society as at odds with nature. Within the collection is a persistent conversation between nature and artifice: delicate chiffon is knotted and manipulated & iridescent acidic colors are layered over flowing forms.

I was inspired to create a film that expressed the more artistic and intellectual ideas which drove the collection. I gathered a group of friends and friends of friends from my dance career to participate. A work of surrealism, the film examines artifice and its effect on the self through clothing and clothing’s ability to create archetypes.
